Sissie and the Giraffe

My little sister is the best. I start every day by giving Sissie a kiss and I try to give her a kiss every night before I go to bed. I love giving Sissie kisses.

Sissie is getting to be a big girl. She can sit up when propped between two pillows and she really likes to look at everyone. She gives really big smiles. She also likes to sit in her bumbo seat.

Sissie also has a new friend. It is her giraffe. She got him at the zoo. She likes to give him kisses, like in this picture.

Anyway, I love Sissie. Very much. Well, that's all I have to say for now. Bye, bye July.... Bring on August. In August, I will be 2! Can you believe it?

Just Like Mom (Momma's Boy)

Special guest author: Daddy

I am honored to be Graham's special guest author. I asked for this opportunity because I had to tell everyone about something that happened during Graham's bed time last night. For those of you who know Shay pretty well, much of this story should sound very familiar. As part of our recent bedtime routine, we do "bubbles and bath" and then Graham gets to pick out a book or two off of his bookshelf and bring them to me. We then read two books and he goes to bed.

Well, last night, after bubbles and bath, Graham pointed at his Caterpillar book, and so he only needed one more book. So I told him to go pick out one (and I held up one finger, which he understands), and he walked over to the bookcase. He picked up every book on the bookshelf at least once, and he picked up many of the books 2-3 times. When he picked each book up, he looked like he was carefully considering whether that was the book he wanted me to read to him that night. After about 5 minutes, I finally counted down, and I told him that I was going to come and pick out his book for him. At that point he picked up three books, and he said "more" as he tried to pick up a fourth. He carried two board books in each hand until he dropped two of them halfway into his six feet walk to me. I was laughing as I picked up the books and helped him into my lap. At that point I knew he was positively his Mother's son. As everyone knows, a baby (and his mommy) has to have options, and they DEFINITELY have to consider all of their options. :)

Well, thanks for letting me tell my story.

Rollin, Rollin', Rollin'

(Sung to the tune of "Rawhide")

Rollin', rollin', rollin'
My little Sissie is now a rollin'
Keep them pacies comin', Sissie!
Sleepin in her Sleepsack,
And hating her tummy time,
Sissie rolled from her tummy onto her back
Of all the things for daddy to be missin',
He missed Sissie and her rollin',
But I'm sure it won't be her only roll from side to side....

Graham's First Real Boo Boo

Well, I guess it had to happen. When you start walking, sometimes you fall down. And sometimes you skin your knees. And sometimes you REALLY skin your knees. I have my first real boo boo. I was playing soutside (outside in Graham speak) in the driveway earlier this week and I tripped on my sandals and fell and skinned both of my knees. One is worse than the other. They are almost healed, but Daddy decided (Mommy told him to) take a picture of my first real boo boo. Here it is...

Daddy says that you can learn things when bad things happen. I guess I learned something. When you fall down you get hurt and then your Daddy takes a picture of it and puts it on the internet. Hmmmmmmmmm......

Smiles from Lena Grace

Yes, my baby sister, Lena Grace, has been smiling for some time, but Daddy hasn't managed to capture any of her big smiles on camera. But tonight he did. Daddy took some fun pictures of Lena when she and Mommy were sitting in the rocking chair and laughing and laughing.

Right now Lena Grace isn't laughing. She's crying. And she's really loud. And she won't stop. So I'd better go -- Daddy needs to go hold Lena Grace.

4th of July Madness

Yesterday was the 4th of July and we had lots of lots of fun at Mr. Matt and Ms. Jen's (and Evan's) house. They had a big party and lots of kids were there. We ate barbeque, and corn on the cob, and potato salad. Yummy, yummy potato salad. I even asked for more. For desert, I had part of a cream puff. Daddy gave it to me when we were inside, but I still had some cream on my hand when I went outside and Mommy saw it. I had some fruit with yummy sauce. It was sooooooooooooooooo good.

Mommy carried Sissie around in a sling. I think Sissie liked it because she could see everyone.

There were lots and lots of kids there, including a little boy named Eli who is going to be in my class at "school" next year. There was a volleyball net, and a volleyball, and badminton rackets, and a birdie. Playing with balls is one of my favorite things to do right now. And I even played badminton all by myself!

I hope everyone else had a great 4th of July too!!!!!!!!!!! Bye-bye.

The P Word

Yesterday was a special day. A week or two ago, Mommy bought me a Potty. Mommy and Daddy are teaching me how to sit on the Potty. And yesterday, I sat down on the Potty and "went Potty." Mommy was very happy. She even called Daddy so I could tell him. Now should I tell them that this is only a one time thing and that it is going to be a while until I really learn how to go Potty? Or do you think that they already know?

Anyway, enough about the P word. I am excited about July 4th. Daddy is at home and we have already had an adventure -- we went to the mall and played on the inside playground. I went down the slides and climbed on the spaceship. I had so much fun.

I have a few pictures to show you from a party we went to at my friend Clayton's grandparents' house (his parents are Dr. Jeff and Dr. Katie). It was going to be a pool party, but it rained a whole lot. So me, and Sam, and Addy played with the water in the pool by bending over and filling up measuring cups and throwing the water at each other, at the adults, and into the pool. I like those kinds of pool parties.
